Tax-free IRA/Charitable Distributions (Tax-Free Charitable IRA Rollover)
An individual age 70½ or older can make direct charitable gifts from an individual retirement account, including required minimum distributions, of up to $100,000 to public charities (other than donor advised funds and supporting organizations) and not have to report the IRA distributions as taxable income on his/her federal income tax return. Tax-free distributions are for outright (direct) gifts only—not life-income gifts. There is no charitable deduction for the IRA distributions. However, not paying tax on otherwise taxable income is the equivalent of a charitable deduction. For more information on Tax-free IRA / Charitable Distributions, speak with your financial advisor.

Founder's Society
Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre invites financial gifts in any amount to help further its continued participation in the vibrant cultural life of the Greater Cedar Rapids Area.  All gifts, including appreciated stocks and bonds, are deductible for tax purposes.

The Founder’s Society helps to advance our mission as a vital, living American art form and to develop the artists who create it as well as the audience that appreciates and supports it. Gifts help to support our education programs in the public schools, and the free pre-opera curtain talks that have introduced thousands of children and adults to the multimedia art form of opera. The Founder’s Society is open to those individual donors who contribute $500 or more annually to Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre operations.  Founder’s Society members enjoy benefits including recognition in programs and invitations to special events.

For more information on our gift policy and Founder’s Society benefits, please contact Marketing & Administrative Coordinator Christina Patramanis at 319-365-7401, extension 1, or
