Filmed in January 2009 by Iowa Public Television at Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center in Cedar Falls, IA; sung in Italian with English supertitles; directed by Vince Liotta and conducted by Dr. Daniel Kleinknecht. Sponsored by Rockwell Collins, CRST International, Wells Fargo Bank, Divine Engineering, Jared & Carol Hills, and Myron & Esther Wilson. Cast includes: Indira Mahajan (Butterfly), Rebecca Ringle (Suzuki), Dennis Petersen (Goro), John Matz (Pinkerton), Levi Hernandez (Sharpless), Elisabeth Bieber (Kate), and John Hines (Uncle Bonze).
The Curtain’s Up: Madama Butterfly companion disc was filmed in Cedar Rapids and New York City and contains interviews with several members of the Madama Butterfly production cast and crew,
taking the audience through the process of design, construction, and collaboration, demonstrating
how each of the opera’s components join to make one seamless presentation.
COST is $25 for the 2 CD set (includes shipping and handling).
