 Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre announces auditions for:
Flight of the Lawn Chair Man, a two-act musical by Robert Lindsey-Nassif
Performances are June 11, 12, and 13, 2010, and will be at the newly renovated Iowa Theatre, home of Theatre Cedar Rapids. Performers will receive an artist's fee.

The University of Iowa Music School, UCC Recital Hall
(in Old Capitol Mall, corner of Clinton St. and Washington St.)
Characters include:
Jerry Gorman – 34, small - medium build, a dreamer, almost a loser
Gracie – Jerry’s girlfriend who embraces life
Big Jack Preston – a little older than Jerry, a uniformed guy
Blaire – a bubbly flight attendant, almost ditsy
Mother Gorman – Jerry’s steamroller of a mother
Mr. Frankel – Jerry’s high-strung, often angry boss
French boy – a classic little French boy from a classic French movie. (May be sung either by a boy of roughly 10 years or a young lady playing a male role.)
NASA Official – all down to business
TV Reporter – handsome, serious
FAA Agent – agent of indeterminate gender
Leonardo da Vinci – the great painter who speaks and sings like Chico Marx
Charles Lindbergh – the aviator who speaks and sings like Jimmy Stewart
Amelia Earhart – the aviator who speaks and sings like Katharine Hepburn
Neighbors, shoppers, Walmart employees, commuters, etc.
Preparation:
Those auditioning will be asked to read an excerpt from the script.
Please bring two (2) prepared musical numbers of contrasting styles/moods from popular/musical theatre repertoire. If you would like a pianist provided for you, please contact Tony Nickle at 319-365-7401.
